PULLMAN, WA - Whitman County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a 911 call from a Spokane couple after their car broke down on a remote county road about five miles west of Pullman.

According to authorities, 24-year-old Tiffany Herrick and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Jonathan Allen, claimed that a man attempted to rape Herrick.

"So when officers looked into that a little further and they contacted the alleged suspect in that original matter, they found out that in fact he had been a victim of a robbery," said Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Herrick posed as an escort on backpage.com, a free classifieds website that they say is a known medium for prostitutes to post ads on. Deputies learned that the alleged suspect in the sexual assault had responded to Herrick's posting, and they made an agreement to exchange money for sexual services. When Herrick met up with the man, money was exchanged and her boyfriend confronted the man with a gun. Herrick and Allen left the scene with the money, but their vehicle broke down a short time later.

After investigating the incident, deputies acquired a search warrant for the vehicle and found marijuana in the vehicle. There was already a warrant out for Allen's arrest for his involvement in a previous robbery. The victim of the robbery may face charges for Solicitation of a Prostitute.
