Lapwai man fires shot from handgun in Lewiston.
LEWISTON, ID - According to Lewiston police, Michael Wilson, 26, of Lapwai, reportedly kicked in the door of a home in Lewiston and fired a single shot from a handgun at Christopher Perini of Lewiston.

LPD Captain Tom Greene said more than likely the outcome would have been different if it weren't for Astohna Holt, who was hiding inside the residence and hit Wilson’s hand as the shot was fired.

"This came very close to hitting the individual, just a few inches," said Greene. "If she would not have intervened we probably would have been dealing with a homicide."

Police said that Michael Wilson and his accomplice Jesse Garrett of Spokane fled from the scene and were arrested in Clarkston. Wilson was booked in the Asotin County Jail on the charge of attempted first-degree murder, and Garret is charged with accomplice to attempted first-degree. This incident is believed to be over a woman.
