STAR, Idaho (KBOI) - Idaho Fish and Game says citizen tips helped identify four Nampa juveniles responsible for shooting a trumpeter swan last month.

Officials say the four teens were involved in the poaching incident of the swan near the Boise River.

Idaho Fish and Game says charges were filed against only three of the boys. Citations included illegal take of a migratory bird, aid in the commission of a misdemeanor, and hunting without a license.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that one of the suspects had also poached a great blue heron.

The suspects will make court appearances in Canyon County.

At more than 20 pounds, and with a wingspan of eight feet, the trumpeter swan is the largest waterfowl in North America and the largest swan in the world.
