Garbage truck leaks hydraulic fluid onto road.
LEWISTON, ID - A Lewiston road has re-opened following an incident in which a garbage truck caught fire and temporarily closed down the road for more than an hour.

The Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to Sixth and Burrell Avenue in Lewiston, following reports of fire. Sunshine Disposal employees acted quickly and extinguished the flames on their truck with a nearby hose. However, emergency responders had another problem on their hands after the large truck began leaking hydraulic fluid.

"We did have a small problem because the hydraulic line burnt through and that caused a small mess that we're still trying to clean up," said Lewiston Fire Dept. Capt. David Chenault.

The City of Lewiston Roads Department provided sand to soak up the fluids from the truck. However, the road remained closed until a street sweeper was able to come by and the garbage truck was towed. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
