LEWISTON, ID - The roundabout construction in Lewiston is nearly complete.

Just one more closure to go before it's all finished. KLEW News learns about the finishing details that will take place Friday night.

Construction at the Snake River Avenue and Southway Avenue roundabout is nearly complete with one last closure Friday evening.

"It'll be a hard closure with detours," said Reidesel Engineering Engineer, Garrett Frei. "Just to finish up the painting in the roundabout."

Frei said that they had plans to have everything up and running by today, but their paint machine broke down. Now they've got about 45 minutes left of work to finish before the roundabout is ready to go.

"The last I checked we're about a month ahead of schedule," said Frei.

Fry said there's been a bit of confusion as they finish up painting the lines along the route with which cars have the right of way.

"Think of the inside of the roundabout as a freeway and everything is an on and off ramp," said Frei. "If you're in the roundabout you have the right-of-way. If you're coming into it, you should yield."

After Friday night's closure the only work left around the roundabout area is seeding and planting along the outside. And the closure tonight is from 8 p.m. until approximately 11 o'clock. It'll be a complete closure while they paint the inside of the roundabout so expect detours along that area.
