Wednesday's Recap of fires in the region

LEWISTON, ID - There's no doubt it's been a busy season for firefighters in this area of the country.

The McGuire Fire has threatened several hundred homes and has gotten close to Dixie and the Red River Area. There's about 2% containment for the 35,000 acre fire. Smoke has reached a hazardous air quality level as of Thursday.

The Powell SBW Complex only has 50 firefighters working and has been a difficult fire to battle because it's in three different areas in the shape of an arc. The fire has grown to 50,000 acres just 45 miles southwest of Lolo-Pass. The lower part of these trees just completely singed off.

The Sheep Fire, seven-miles North of Riggins, very close to Lucile is at 22% containment as of Thursday with 34,000 acres charred. That is why we have had such terrible air quality in the Valley right now.
