The recall petition was submitted in October of 2011.
The recall petition was submitted in October of 2011. Grant declined the opportunity to resign his position which allowed the petition to go forward. Standard procedure requires 20% of registered voters to sign the petition in order for a recall to take place.
"When you have a smaller district, then the burden of gathering the number of signatures is less," said Nez Perce County Auditor Patty Weeks.
Eighty-eight registered voters live in zone three, which meant petitioners only needed to gather 18 signatures to go on the March 13th ballot. If the majority of the people vote to recall Grant, he will lose his spot on the board, which would open his position up for an eligible candidate.
