Clarkston Council holds off signing with other counties shoreline master plan

Clarkston Council holds off signing with other counties shoreline master plan
CLARKSTON, WA - The Clarkston City Council decided not to sign off on a shoreline master plan.

A government funded mandate will address shoreline zoning issues along regional waterways. Several counties are working on a plan that's spearheaded by Columbia County, however under the advice of Clarkston City Attorney Jim Grow, Clarkston City Council will wait to sign onto the multi-county agreement.

"I didn't see any way for us to withdraw," said Grow. "The only time it would ever be a concern is if they were, here they are acting as our agent, we've given them the authority to act on our behalf. But what if they start acting in a way that we are not pleased with."

The council passed a motion to table this agenda item for now. Asotin, Garfield and Columbia Counties, along with the city of Starbuck will put their grant money together to come up with a plan.
