Shoplifter breaks bottle over Spokane clerk's head

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A woman trying to shoplift a bottle of wine in Spokane smashed it over the head of Hillyard Grocery employee Jason Hill Thursday evening when he confronted her going out the door.

The Spokesman-Review reports she chased him around the parking lot with pieces of broken glass until he threw her to the ground by her hair.

A witness helped hold the 29-year-old woman until police arrived and arrested her for investigation of robbery. Despite a cut on his head, Hill went back to work.
