Commissioners consider options on how to fill Sheriff Bancroft’s position.
ASOTIN, WA - Asotin County is no closer to filling its interim sheriff vacancy Wednesday night.

At Tuesday night's town hall meeting, county commissioners weighed several options as to how to fill Sheriff Ken Bancroft's position. They looked at taking applications and conducting interviews, or asking the City of Clarkston for a contract with the police chief.

Commissioner Brian Shinn said it would be unfair to appoint either of the two sheriff candidates, Dan Hally and John Hilderbrand. Sheriff Bancroft will be leaving at the end of this month, and commissioners will have 60 days after that to appoint a replacement.
