COUER D'ALENE, ID - A senior home care in Couer d'Alene is looking for Idaho's outstanding senior volunteers.

The Home Instead Senior Care announced its national "Salute to Senior Service" program to honor deserving senior volunteers.

The program includes a search for the most outstanding senior volunteers in each state for the many contributions they make in their local communities.

Fifty state winners and one national winner will be named during "Older Americans Month" in May.

State winners will receive plaques and their stories will be posted on www.salutetoseniorservice.com. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the national winner's charity of choice.

"I think it's very important. I think that first of all recognizing them for what they do but I think it also encourages other seniors to find opportunities to volunteer as well," said Ene Gaines, owner of Home Instead Senior Care.

Nominees must be 65 years or older and volunteer at least 15 hours a month. Nominations will be accepted through March 15, 2012.

To nominate a deserving senior, go to www.salutetoseniorservice.com. Nomination forms can be requested at ckoehler@homeinsteadinc.com
