Scroggins plead guilty to two counts of child sexual exploitation.
LEWISTON, ID - A local man charged with multiple sex crimes against children is being let out of jail, at least for now.

Daniel Scroggins, 53, previously pleaded not guilty to ten counts of sexual exploitation of a child, but now has changed that plea to guilty on lesser charges. Scroggins pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child in order for the state to dismiss the other eight charges.

"By pleading guilty and by me accepting your plea of guilt you also waive or give up any defenses that you may have to the charges against you and the information," said Nez Perce County Court Judge Kerrick.

Scroggins completed a psycho-sexual evaluation and was found to be a low risk to the community. That evaluation paired with the change of plea allowed Scroggins to be released from the Nez Perce County jail on probation Tuesday. Sentencing is scheduled for February 15th.
