Ed & Beatriz Schweitzer donate $1 million to new Lewiston library

LEWISTON, ID - 'Tis the season to give and for the Lewiston library that phrase has taken on an entirely new meaning this year, after a large Christmas donation.

Ed and Beatriz Schweitzer gave $1 million to Lewiston's new downtown library. The money will be used to transform the upstairs of the 120-year-old building and also to purchase state of the line technology.

The Library Foundation President Delitha Kilgore said that this gift demonstrates not only an investment in the library but also in the community.

"It goes to the fabric of our community," said Kilgore. "And it really says something about how their intention is to have Lewiston a better place to live for their employees as well as the rest of our community."

Kilgore said the 35,000 square foot library is opening this April.
