BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — The chairman of the Bingham District school board, who was facing a recall effort over a secret $220,000 buyout of a former superintendent's contract, is resigning.
KIFI-TV reports Scott Reese said Friday he's stepping down because he doesn't want his presence on the board to hurt the passage of a supplemental levy.
Reese and trustee Jenny Hong are the subjects of a citizen recall petition turned in to the Bingham County Clerk's office on Monday. The recall didn't target three other board members whose terms will end in May.
