Private landowners have more power with rule change in Clearwater region.
LEWISTON, ID - You can now hunt wolves 365 days a year on private property within the Clearwater region.

This new rule change by the Fish and Game Commission, will be included in the 2014 Big Game Hunting rules package. Until now, it's been illegal to kill wolves unless they were in season. Idaho Fish and Game Bureau Chief of Communications, Mike Keckler said this gives land-owners more power to choose what happens on their property.

"The commission felt like they need to give private land-owners additional flexibility to hunt wolves or allow hunting on their property if they felt like there was a need there," said Keckler.

Keckler said they changed this rule in the Panhandle region a couple years ago and it didn't result in a large increase in wolves being killed. The commission also moved up the opening of wolf-trapping season in the Lolo and Selway zones.
