LEWISTON, ID - Republican Nez Perce County Sheriff Candidate Joe Rodriguez says his ambition and youth sets him apart from his opponent.

Rodriguez has worked in law enforcement for roughly 12 years and served nine years as the Senior Deputy of Nez Perce County. He says, if elected, he'll work to generate more revenue for the county by bringing an impound yard to the area.

"I have years left in my career," said Rodriguez. "I'm still going to patrol so I mean that's what I bring to the table. You're still going to know who Joe Rodriguez is when he's working. You're not going to go, "who's the sheriff of Nez Perce County?"

Rodriguez says that although his opponent and current Nez Perce County Sheriff Dale Buttrey may have more experience, he cites his initiative to bring change as a reason to vote for him. Rodriguez previously worked for the Nez Perce Tribal Police Department. He says that, if elected, he'll tackle both cyber-crime and work on bringing in a new drug task force to the area.
