LEWISTON, ID - A local government leader is expected home yesterday, after a long stint in a Seattle hospital for severe burns.

Leaders from the road and bridge department met with the commission to provide updates on county roads, but one announcement that came by surprise was that Nez Perce County Road Department Director Mark Ridinger will be home today.

In November Ridinger was severely burned after adding fuel to a fire at his hunting camp. His co-workers said all he wanted was to be home for the holidays and it's his positive attitude that sped up the recovery process.

"He has such a good drive and so that has expedited his recovery hugely," said N.P. County Road Dept. employee, Robin Paasch. "And the doctors and nurses have just been amazed of his drive."

The good updates didn't stop with Ridinger's return, as the commission learned that despite his absence, the road and bridge department has been busy preparing the roads and roadsides for winter conditions.
