LEWISTON, ID - She's spent 14-years in the Idaho Legislature and now she's running for Congress.

First District Democrat Shirley Ringo was invited to talk to a class at Lewis-Clark State College Monday afternoon. She talked to students about why she's running for the First Congressional seat. She said that one of Idaho's largest challenges is the number of people in the state working for minimum wage.

"I think its very hard on families to have the parents working hard and everybody living hand to mouth, so its something that needs to change and I would be looking hard at policies that would help us make that change," said Ringo.

Ringo said that being a math teacher for 38-years helped her develop a habit of solving problems. She said that's one of her greatest strengths she'd bring to congress.
