Ivy Medical will provide health care for jail inmates.
LEWISTON, ID - The budget for inmate health care at the Nez Perce County Jail is now $30,000 higher than last year.

The commission said that's good deal. The resolution for inmate health care was approved by the Nez Perce County Commission for $345,000. A two-percent cost of living increase and additional training were included in that cost for the services of Ivy Medical.

"The commissioners were quite pleased that we can find a local provider for this contract," said Nez Perce County Commissioner, Doug Havens. "It meant a lot to us and I think we worked out a good agreement."

Despite an increase in costs, this is dramatically lower than 2012, when inmate health care was $390,000. It's a state requirement to provide basic medical care to all inmates.
