MOSCOW, ID - Four reserve police cadets will now begin their field training with the Moscow Police Department.

At Moscow City Council meeting Monday night, Tom Picarella, McKenzie Fosberg, Kyle Lindemann and Doctor Ben Barton received their Moscow PD badges and gave their oaths as reserve officers. The four have undergone intense physical, psychological and educational training for the past seven months. As reserve officers they still had to meet the same standards as a regular commissioned police officer.

During the next six to 12 months the reserve cadets will perform on-the-job field training. This is the first class of reserve cadets to be sworn in in about a decade. The program was disbanded ten years ago due to state regulations, then reinstated last October due to efforts of the city council.

The Moscow PD hopes to enlist another five reserve cadets next year.
