CLARKSTON, WA - Asotin County Commissioner for District 1 Brian Shinn held on to his seat in the race against Republican Mark Wood.

The incumbent who's served eleven months, so far, said he's ready to continue the work he started which includes balancing the budget. Shinn said he's excited to work with newly elected Commissioner Jim Fuller to get his perspective and ideas on difficult issues like the budget.

"I'm excited about just the fact that we have opportunities to change things that have been in place for a long time," said Shinn. "We not only have opportunities, we have a need to do it because of the economic situation we're in."

Shinn said he's also relieved to see Proposition One, that would've enacted a home rule charter, didn't pass because he doesn't think local government needs reform at this point in time.
