Democrats host public forum to address public concerns

District 7 Representative John Rusche and District 30 Senator Edgar Malepeai in Lewiston.

LEWISTON, ID - Community members were able to address their concerns over the weekend at Lewiston's annual Pizza and Politics public forum.

District 7 Representative John Rusche and District 30 Senator Edgar Malepeai made their appearance in Lewiston as part of their northern tour of the State of Idaho. The politicians have been traveling around the state to discuss questions and concerns posed by citizens.

"We get a lot of democrats and some places in the state, we don't have democratic legislatures and they may feel that their voices aren't heard," said Rusche. "But, we are not limiting this to democrats, we are trying to talk to everyone and get a good feel for what people are concerned about, what they want their legislature to be working on."

Both politicians expressed their concern with the economy and said the majority of the public forums have focused on education and ethics. Rusche said he is optimistic progress will be made by the proposals put forth to the legislature. He said his biggest concern is people forgetting why we have government, and that it is to provide public services and public structures which people depend on.
