LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Police Department and the Asotin County Health District will participate Saturday in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Drug Take Back Day allows people to safely dispose of any unused prescription drugs. Proper disposal keeps medication from contaminating waterways and prevents drugs from falling into the hands of children and others who may be tempted to steal them.

The collected drugs will be destroyed periodically at an incinerator in Spokane used by Idaho State Police and the Idaho Board of Pharmacy. Items such as syringes, liquids, bio-hazards and inhalers are not accepted.

Citizens wanting to participate in the Nationwide Drug Turn-in can bring any unused drugs to the LPD lobby from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. or from 2p.m. to 4p.m.at The Asotin County Health District.
