ISP: Make transportation arrangements before NYE celebrations

LEWISTON, ID - New Years Eve and the big day calls for celebrations all around the world.

However, according to Idaho State Police Trooper Chad Montgomery, some people end up having too much fun. Last year in Idaho, DUI arrests on New Years Day spiked to six times more than the normal daily average. Montgomery said it's important to make plans to get home safely before going out for celebrations. He also said to be a defensive driver when you're out on the road.

"If you notice anything that sticks out in your mind like an impaired driver, somebody who can't maintain their speed or maintain their lane or if you actually see them drinking, call us," said Montgomery.

Montgomery said many of the calls that concerned citizens make, lead them to DUI arrests.
