CLARKSTON, WA - A family is homeless and their mobile home destroyed after a fire Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews from Asotin County and the City of Asotin battled the fire in the Clarkston Heights on 18th Avenue and Charene Drive. Surrounding homes were initially threatened but a quick response kept the flames at bay.

"Being an older manufactured home, the fire can spread really rapidly in these types of homes," said Asotin Co. Fire Dist. #1 Fire Chief, Noel Hardin.

A woman was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for smoke inhalation, but no one else was injured. However the home is a complete loss according to Fire Chief Noel Hardin.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
