LEWISTON - Around 20 officers from the Lewiston Police Department, the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office, and Idaho State Police were involved in a nearly four-hour standoff that ended peacefully around 2:30 Saturday morning.

Officers said they received a call shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday that a man was allegedly intoxicated and suicidal. Officers were able to locate the man at the top of Old Spiral Highway.

According to authorities, he fired several rounds into the air and left his vehicle, at which point officers lost contact with him for an extended period of time. After the man returned to his vehicle, officers were able to talk him into surrendering using non-lethal force.

At last check he was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
