LEWISTON, ID - Monday is the start of the 26th annual Native American Awareness Week at Lewis-Clark State College.
This annual week at the college is filled with activities and events that are meant to bring awareness to Native American Culture.
"From Lewis and Clark on that aspect of the relationship, the friendships between the Nez Perce people and the Lewis Clark expedition just continued on and I think that's important," said Native American Services Director Bob Sobotta.
All activities and events are open to the public and free of charge. This weeks events will kick off Monday night with a playwright written by Lapwai High School students. It starts at 7 p.m., in the Silverthorne Theater.
Sobotta said it's especially important to have an appreciation for Native American History because it's intertwined with the history of the LC Valley.
