LEWISTON, ID - Lewiston High School students had an opportunity to save time and money Thursday afternoon at a free vehicle inspection put on by a local auto care center.

The Lewiston NAPA Auto Parts encouraged students to drive their vehicles across the street from the high school for a free preventive maintenance check. Volunteers from local dealerships and NAPA Auto Parts inspected the engines, lights and tires of all vehicles teaching each student how to check their oil and other fluids under the hood.

"A lot of the kids don't have a lot of experience around the cars," said NAPA Auto Parts Owner Cleve Chisholm. "They know how to drive them and operate them, but under the hood is a different aspect. We want them to learn what to do under the hood when there's something wrong or when there's an issue, they know what to look at."

Each student was given an inspection sheet once each vehicle's maintenance check was complete. Those students driving vehicles needing immediate attention were given various coupons to use at local shops throughout the LC Valley.
