LEWISTON, ID - The ongoing enhancement project surrounding the canoe wave sculpture in west Lewiston will soon be completed.

According to Lewiston Parks and Recreation Director Tim Barker, the muralist for the project is scheduled to begin painting the west side of the Sonoco building by the end of next week. Originally the West Enhancement Project was scheduled for completion in early June, but Barker said because of the weather and location of the mural, the project was pushed back.

"It's definitely going to be worth the wait and the whole process will be really interesting as well," said Barker. "You won't be able to drive by and see him working during the day because a lot of the work that he will do is actually at night."

The muralist Rolf Goetzinger will work in the evening hours by reflecting images on the wall and painting them. Barker said community members will not be disappointed with the final project which is now scheduled for completion in October.
