Sixty-year-old rapist Monte Hoisington was previously convicted of three rapes in the Valley, two in Lewiston and one in Clarkston.
Hoisington's attorney Dale Slack of Dayton, previously filed a motion asking for the case to be moved because of news coverage and local public opinion regarding his client. That motion was denied by Asotin County Superior Court Judge William Acey. Jury selection will begin February 14th for a trial to determine if Hoisington should continue to be held as a sexually violent predator at the McNeil Island Special Commitment Center.
Asotin County Prosecutor Ben Nichols said if the state is unable to prove that Hosington still meets the definition of a sexually violent predator he could be granted an unconditional release from the commitment center.
