Lewiston Police arrested 18-year-old Benjamin Staats of Lewiston on Monday for possession of stolen property. Asotin County Sheriff Ken Bancroft contacted Lewiston Police Department after the arrest to set up an interview with Staats, who later admitted to the thefts in the Clarkston Heights. He also confessed he acted with three other accomplices. Bancroft said, at this point, those people remain "persons of interest."
Staats is being held at the Nez Perce County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
Pending his release, Staats will be charged with first degree trafficking of stolen property, second degree vehicle prowl and third degree theft in Asotin County.
