A private landowner caused the Mail Trail wildfire

ANATONE, WA - Asotin County Sheriff Ken Bancroft said a person working on their irrigation system on private land is to blame for the Mail Trail wildfire, burning south of Asotin.

Asotin County Fire District No.1 Chief Noel Hardin said that the incident commander flew over the fire Thursday afternoon and they're expecting total containment of the fire Thursday evening. Hardin said the perimeter lines are looking great but they'll go over the fire ground again to make sure there are no hot spots. The blaze has ended up torching just shy of 2,500 acres.
