MOSCOW, ID - Thousands of K-through-twelve students have flocked to the University of Idaho campus for the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is known for it's impressive concert line-up.
"The concerts on the last night are always like the greatest," said Nanaimo District Secondary School student Julia Starko. "We saw a concert last night and I was blown away."
And it's an event that local students look forward to every year.
"We don't have a lot here, and so to have something like this...," said Moscow Middle Schooler Hannah Kindelspire.
"You get to make new friends, and it kind of, the whole town seems bigger and more alive, and a lot happier," said Moscow Middle Schooler Cassandra Rozelle.
But they're not the only ones. We met some students who traveled all the way from British Columbia.
"We had to wake up really early, and take the ferry," said Starko.
"Twelve hour drive I believe, something like that," said Revelstoke Secondary School student Jacob Wallach. "Ya, twelve hours."
"Long. Long bus ride, but we got extra leg room and comfy seats," said Nanaimo District Secondary School student Arden Lumgair.
People travel from hundreds of miles away to attend the jazz festival, and they come for more than just the music.
"I wanna see all of you just like scream your heads off," said dance instructor.
The long list of jazz festival workshops includes a variety of dance classes.
"We kind of take a look at all the different events that are going on, or the classes, and we love taking part in the different dance ones," said Wallach.
Some of them teach more traditional dancing.
"Oh, the swing dancing is one of my favorite," said Lumgair. "Like when I come to Idaho, I go to this class."
And others are a little bit wilder.
"The crumping," said Wallach. "We checked that out, watched a bunch of videos on YouTube first."
"It was interesting," said Kindelspire. "Don't do that a lot. It's like a way to express yourself. It's pretty cool I guess."
"It was really fun," said Revelstoke Secondary School student Toni Teed.
The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival continues Friday night and Saturday with performances by Maceo Parker, the String Summit, and the Jeff Hamilton Trio.
