LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Sears is expected to shut its doors in the next few months after it was slated as one of more than 100 locations to close in 2012 because of slumping sales.

The store is scheduled to close on March 11th. It's believed Sears stores took a hit from online retailers, offering a wider range of similar products. Although the store has sold a reasonable amount of items already, Lewiston managers said there's still a large selection to choose from. Discounts range from 10% to 40% off and include any and all products.

Sears Holdings shut down 22 stores in 2010. In 2011, they closed 39 stores and converted 14 locations into Kmart stores. The company said Sears typically employs 40 to 80 people at each store, which could mean at least 40 people will be out of work in Lewiston. Nationally, around 4,000 to 9,600 workers could lose their jobs.

The Sears store in Walla Walla and a Kmart store in Lacey, Washington are the only other stores listed for closure in the Northwest.
