The Lewiston Police Department made a three-year agreement with the City and will receive a 1% to 2.5% raise for the 2012 fiscal year, which began October 1st.

"You know, with the economy the way it is, we understand that money is tight," said police officer Olson. "Nationwide, law enforcement is not getting a lot, so the fact that we were able to get a positive raise, we were very happy with that."
Historically, the department's received a 2% to 4% increase in pay. However, in an agreement with the city, the department decided not to take a raise for the last two years. The effort would both guarantee the City would save money and that no one in the department would lose their job.
Lewiston Police Department was also granted shift-differential pay, compensation for field training officers and an officers Bill of Rights.
