Light winds draw smoke from fires toward the river valleys.
LAPWAI, ID - An air quality advisory is in effect for the Clearwater River corridor on the Nez Perce Reservation.

Air quality program officials for the tribe said they're closely monitoring the air quality levels throughout the week as light winds draw fires toward the river valleys. Department of Environmental Quality North Idaho Smoke Coordinator Melissa Bacon said that because winds are coming in from the southwest, the L-C Valley has been spared from the air pollution that's affecting the nearby areas.

"Thus far we have not seen any of the smoke outside of the reservation," said Bacon. "Where we have our monitors placed, appear to be clean air in the good air quality category."

Bacon advises young children, the elderly and those with air sensitivity to stay indoors as much as possible when an air quality advisory is in effect.
