But not to fear, the Boys and Girls Club of the Lewis-Clark Valley are coming to the rescue! The annual Christmas tree pickup is scheduled for Saturday January 5th. Starting at 9 a.m., groups of kids will be traveling the City of Lewiston to pick up your ornament and tinsel-free trees.
"We still pick up about five to 600 trees," said Boys & Girls Clubs Director of Development Brian Bartels. "It's a great deal for us and a nice service to the community and gives you a chance to get rid of your tree easily and help out the Boys & Girls Club at the same time."
The service is by donation and all the money raised goes to scholarships so no club kid is left behind. For those folks who won't be around next weekend and would like their tree picked up, an envelope will be left on your doorstep with a mailing address to make your donation.
Volunteers ask that you you leave your trees clearly visible in front of your homes. Those trees collected are then sent off to be chipped, or recycled into bird and fish habitats. Whatever is left over is sent to EKO.
