A Bloomington, Indiana Radio station came up with the idea back in 2001. Since then, it's taken off. On Monday, the imagination bubbled over. From flower vases, to dragons, to colorful hats, kids found no shortage of creative uses.
"I made a dress, and then that got kind of boring so I went all Lady Gaga and completely covered myself in bubblewrap," said 13-year-old Sara Ashby.
"I going to see if I can make a sword and maybe a shield out of this stuff," said 12-year-old Ben Krohn. "I don't know if the shield will be strong enough."
Two engineers created bubblewrap back in 1957 by accident. They were trying to make plastic wallpaper with a paper backing. Not surprisingly their product didn't take off at least in the way they intended. But that certainly didn't matter to these kids.
