LOWELL, ID - A new fire we are now following is the Johnson Bar Fire, burning in the Nez-Perce Clearwater National Forest.

This fire, which is at just over 3,000 acres, remains at zero percent containment. Cost estimates to fight the blaze thus far have almost reached a million dollars with numerous "spot fires" around the main fire. Crews are fighting the blaze from both the ground and air.

The incident management team is recommending the evacuation of all residents in the Selway River corridor from O'Hara Bridge downriver to the confluence.

We want to remind everyone about a public meeting for people affected by the Johnson Bar Fire tonight. The incident management team will answer questions and brief the public on what's going on tonight at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held on the baseball diamond at the City Park in Kooskia.

Remember, an evacuation is recommended for people living in the area. Once again that meeting is tonight at 7:00 p.m.
