LEWISTON, ID - Democrat and current Nez Perce County Sheriff Dale Buttrey said that, if re-elected, he'll continue to provide the highest quality law enforcement services available.
Buttrey's worked for the Sheriff's Office for 25 years, four of which he's served as the county sheriff. The sheriff contends that he's done everything he can to keep within budget and provide good services, while maintaining a good reputation not only in the county but in the state.
"I'm the best man for the job," said Buttrey. "I have the experience, I have the training and I have the desire to keep going in the direction that the sheriff's office is going right now."
Buttrey said it's important to keep things moving forward. He says he's shown people what he can do, and believes he's made his case as to his qualifications for the position.

In this day and age I wonder WHY we are still ELECTING our county head law enforcement official? It should be based upon education, experience as well as other factors such as past performance and management capabilities, not on who we like.
Should smell. This guy sits around all day playing online backgammon and other games, completing ignoring what's going on around him. He doesn't have the experience, he was Dorion's yes man...only said something about Dorion when the secret wall came crashing down. Brings his dog to work everyday; the dog urinates and defecates all over the office, interrupts meetings, steals food. He has allowed theft and battery against employes and is responsible for the systematic torment of employees who don't agree with him, his admin staff, and followers. Two deputies can't even qualify with weapons; he lost a police retirement position due to fraternization. Get rid of him and get a better sheriff. He doesn't care about anything; when a deputy was involved in a shooting a couple of years ago, he didn't even check on his status. Finally called him a day later. Nice.
"moving forward"........better choice of phrases please , that one which is already taken, really smells.
