Wildfire evacuations ordered due to Mustang Complex fire

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Lehmi County Sheriff in eastern Idaho issued an evacuation order early Sunday for residents along U.S. Highway 93 from Quartz Creek to North Fork threatened by a wildfire that officials fear could spread with high winds expected to arrive in the afternoon.

Law enforcement officials Sunday morning were going door to door notifying residents of about 400 homes. Fire officials say the 408-square-mile Mustang Complex of fires is about two miles west of the community of North Fork near the Montana border.

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, predicting winds of more than 25 mph combined with low humidity. Officials say winds could channel through canyons and valleys.
