Liquor Control Board adopts rules and regulations for recreational marijuana

Liquor Control Board adopts rules and regulations for recreational marijuana
CLARKSTON, WA - The Washington State Liquor Control Board has adopted rules for marijuana sale, use and distribution two months ahead of schedule.

Spokesperson Brian Smith said those rules now govern the legal use of marijuana in the state. Smith said organizations from all over the country and the world are calling and asking how the implementation of the rules and regulations are working for the state of Washington.

"The world really is watching what we're doing here in Washington on recreational marijuana," said Smith. "Countries from as far away as Brazil, Spain, were calling in to see how it's going in Washington, how the whole process works."

Starting in November, people can apply for licenses to sell the legal drug. The Liquor Control Board expects people to be able to purchase marijuana in licensed retailers by late May or June of 2014.
