Hodges first degree murder trial for the death of a toddler set for March

Hodges first degree murder trial for the death of a toddler set for March
LEWISTON, ID - A woman accused of killing a toddler faces trial after an unsuccessful attempt at getting her case dismissed.

A Nez Perce County grand jury decided there is enough evidence for Natasha Nichole Hodges of Lewiston to stand trial on first degree murder charges. The charges stem from the tragic death of two-year-old Rylee Mingo.

Hodges is accused of hitting the toddler in the stomach. She later died from internal bleeding. Hodge's attorney Rick Cuddihy said Judge Jeff Brudie denied a motion to dismiss the case Monday on grounds the prosecution made errors including presenting false evidence to the grand jury. However Cuddihy said it's very rare for an indictment to be lifted. Hodge's trial is now set to start in March.
