Hailey keeps her eye on the prize of a future in engineering
GENESEE, ID - Hailey Johnson is the valedictorian for Genesee School's 2013 graduating class and she's got an athletic scholarship to Washington State University.

What can't this girl do?

"I just keep telling myself that it's a challenge and it's worth it because I'm going to be able to get a job in a competitive job environment," said Johnson.

Staying competitive in the field of engineering is tough, but not for Hailey, who's got her eye on the prize.

"I want to be an environmental engineer," said Johnson. "I think that sounds fun. Being an engineer but being outdoors also."

So how does she pull off ten hours of swimming lessons a week while maintaining a 4.0 GPA? She says it's easy because she has fun doing it.

"Swimming is kind of my social life," said Johnson. "I have so many friends there and it's just a fun community to be in."

But for Hailey it's all about believing in yourself.

"Keep believing that you can do it." said Johnson. "Don't ever say that you can't. You can as long as you put in the time and effort."
