School District is required to invest in an energy grade audit.
ASOTIN, WA - The Asotin-Anatone School District has been awarded more than $100,000 in grant funding.

The Superintendent Office Of Public Instruction awarded $20 million in grants throughout Washington State, for schools in need of energy efficient improvements. Prior to the Asotin-Anatone School District being awarded $140,000 of that state money, Superintendent Dale Bonfield said the school was required to invest in an energy grade audit.

"We knew we were not very energy efficient because our facility in the 70's, late 70's is when they were built," said Bonfield. "And in addition to that we know it's just a matter of time before they need to be replaced."

With this money they'll install new energy efficient LED lighting and new burners in the heating and cooling units and new controls for those units. As a stipulation the Asotin-Anatone School district will also have to spend $265,000 of their own money, which will come from a loan and school funding. The energy efficient projects begin this summer.
