Genesee mayoral race decided by three votes but not official yet
GENESEE, ID - You may have heard the expression, "Every vote counts"... and it turns out that's especially true for the citizens of Genesee.

The small town of less than a thousand people re-elected their mayor for a second term in office, however he only won by three votes. The final cumulative report for Latah County shows Mayor Steve Odenborg received 125 votes, while competitor Charley Rennaker received 122.

"I want to thank them all for the support, and I want to do the best I can," said Genesee Mayor Steve Odenborg. "We're just trying to do the right thing."

Odenborg said he's looking forward to working with the new and current council members… But he said he's still anxious because these results aren't official yet. The auditor has only released an unofficial tally and the election won't be officially certified by the county commissioners until the 13th.

There was a third mayoral candidate on the Genesee ballot, James Sims received 25 votes.
