Demolition is underway at the old Walmart building on Thain where they're prepping the floors and getting the building ready for remodeling. Once the building permit is granted from the City of Lewiston they'll begin building the major attractions including the basketball and racquetball courts.
Gold's Gym owner Dr. Regan Hansen said he's excited that the new gym facility will provide innovative ways to help stop what he considers to be a growing epidemic.
"The biggest epidemic in America is childhood obesity and to try to help that we have added and probably one of the first gyms in the U.S to add cross-fit for kids," said Hansen.
Employees have already begun moving workout equipment inside the 60-thousand square foot gym. Gold's Gym will be one of the biggest full amenity gyms in the Northwest region and is expect to open at the end of May.
