Lewiston Police caution consumers using debit cards at businesses
LEWISTON, ID - URM stores now have increased security measures designed to stop any further cyber attacks.

However the Lewiston Police Department said that extra precautions should still be taken regardless.

The cyber attack that plagued URM stores like Rosauers has been blocked from continuing, that's according to URM CEO Ray Sprinkle. Lewiston Police Lieutenant Budd Hurd said while the recent cyber attack that accessed card information was out of our control, there are things we do have control over to keep our information safe during the time of year where fraudulent cases typically spike.

"Again we are a society that's in a hurry," said Hurd. "So we don't always take the precautions to protect the card. You know you never wanted to give your card to someone else. And for those that don't monitor their accounts, I would suggest that they monitor them closely. Especially during the holiday seasons."

Recovering stolen personal information is often difficult because many of the scams are from out the country. If you are a victim of fraud, contact your bank immediately and law enforcement.
