Nez Perce-Clearwater Nat’l Forest Management Plan seeks public comment
MOSCOW, ID - The Forest Service's new proposed management plan for the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest is now open for public comment.

Wednesday night, forest service leaders hosted an open house discussion at The 1912 Center. The Nez Perce and Clearwater Forests were combined last year and currently have two separate forest management plans that are 27-years old, that's 12-years longer than they say a plan should last.

The new proposed plan treats them as one forest and is a guide for future management of timber, minerals, restoration, water, and protection of wildlife habitat among other things. The proposal isn't final. Forest Service leaders also want to include input from the public.

"This is the public's land," said Revision Plan Team Leader, Timory Peel. "We are in charge of managing it but we know everyone out there, it's their backyard. They wanna work there, live there, play there. It's providing clean water, clean air, wildlife habitat so it's really important that the public provides its comments and participates."

Peel said the Forest Service will consider every comment they get. To learn how you can see and give the Forest Service your comments on the new proposed action plan for the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest, visit our website for ways that you can comment.
