LEWISTON, ID - The death toll in the Philippines is now estimated to be 5,500 people. Typhoon Haiyan hit the islands on November 8th, and efforts to send help to the area continue... even here locally.

A benefit dinner for those living in the Philippines was held on Saturday, November 30th at 4:00 p.m. at the LCSC Williams Conference Center.

Traditional Filipino food was served, and all the money raised go towards providing relief from what's now being called 'One of the most devastating storms of all time.'

"We have families in the Philippines and we feel that we have a responsibility to help them out," said Filipino & Friends Assoc. member, Araceli Robertson.

"This is the worst this is really the most destructive event in the Philippines," said Filipino & Friends Assoc. member, Ana Graves. "Haiyan is the most monster."

If you couldn't go to the event but still want to donate, accounts for disaster relief have been set up at America West Bank, Wells Fargo, Potlatch Credit Union and Zion Bank.
